Adequate insurance is an essential but potentially expensive element of our hobby. Our Insurance Officer provides an important link between the Insurance Industry and the membership by locating and vetting high quality services and also giving appropriate advice on insurance matters.

The NTET has negotiated bespoke insurance policies exclusively for Members and Rally Organisers through brokers Footman James & Co Ltd, Waterfall Lane, Cradley Heath, Warley, West Midlands. This well known and respected firm are specialists in the insurance of special marques and vintage and veteran collectables.

The 'NTET Steam Policy' not only insures the traction engine and its associated equipment against accidental damage, theft and for damage against a third party up to the limits required by the NTET's Code of Practice but it also provides cover for personal injuries and accidents. All of these extensive risks are provided at extremely competitive rates.

'Off road'or non mobile cover can be arranged at £4 per thousand pound of insured value. This cover is ideal for stationary or portable engines or for restoration projects. Loss of tools, fittings and equipment is included in this cover.

The NTET's Low Loader Scheme. This popular policy provides 3rd Party RTA cover or Fully Comprehensive cover at very competitive rates. Comprehensive cover includes vehicle and load recovery following an accident , - a minimum premium applies here. Mileage is limited to 6,000 per annum but will be raised by request at no additional charge. This policy is for named drivers only.

The 'NTET Authorised Event Policy' Ensuring that visitors, exhibitors and staff attending a show or rally are adequately protected against loss or injury is a major concern of the the NTET. Accidents do happen however and so the NTET strongly advises that adequate and robust personal accident and public liability insurance is purchased by the organisers.

Footman James have prepared jointly with the NTET a bespoke 'Events Policy' which is heavily discounted to the organisers of Authorised Events. (Non-authorised events may purchase similar insurance but at market rates.)

Domestic insurance cover. Footman James are also able to provide Private Car, Building, Building Contents and Domestic Insurance cover at extremely competitive rates. Remember, by using our appointed broker not only will you obtain complete and comprehensive cover at very attractive rates but you will also be helping to put commission into the NTET's coffers.

The NTET Insurance Disc Scheme provides the owners or keepers of traction engines, stationary and portable engines or models with a circular disc which certifies the expiry dates relating to the insurances and inspections of the engine. The disc is displayed in a prominent position on the exhibit and is only issued against reports submitted by inspectors who have provided proof of current Professional Indemnity insurance to the NTET Insurance Officer.

The Insurance Discs design ensures that the Rally Safety Officers are provided with a simple, but accurate, method of determining the status of RTA, Public Liability Insurance cover and the safe working pressure conditions. Discs are issued by the Insurance Disc Officer (Assistant Insurance Officer) or by authorised agents.

If you purchase insurance from sources not listed above then in order to obtain a NTET Insurance Disc you must submit a current Ceritificate of Motor Insurance and current set of Boiler Inspection Reports to the Insurance Officer. There is a charge for this service to non-members of the Trust.
