If you love big, powerful steam engines, incredible engineering and the smell of coal and hot oil, you’re in the right place! The Steam Apprentice Club (SAC) is all about helping young people like you, to get hands-on experience with traction engines, steam rollers and other amazing steam-powered machines.
The SAC was founded in 1979 with one big goal: to keep the world of steam alive by inspiring the next generation of steam enthusiasts. For more than 45 years, we’ve been bringing young people together to learn, build and experience what it’s like to operate real steam engines.
Back in the day, steam-powered traction engines were used for ploughing fields, hauling heavy loads, and even running fairground rides. Today, they’re an important part of our history and it’s up to us to make sure they’re preserved for the future. That’s why the SAC was created – to teach young engineers the skills, knowledge and passion needed to keep these magnificent machines steaming on for years to come!
At the SAC, you won’t just read about traction engines – you’ll get to experience them for yourself! Here’s what being a member is all about:
Joining the SAC is an amazing opportunity for any young person who is fascinated by steam power, history or engineering. Here’s why it’s such a great club to be part of:
For decades, the SAC has helped train and inspire young people who have gone on to own, restore and even build their own steam engines! By joining, you’ll be part of a long tradition of passionate steam enthusiasts who are making sure these incredible machines never fade into history.
So, are you ready to fire up your passion for steam and be part of an amazing club? Join us today, and let’s keep the magic of steam rolling into the future!
