Beyond SAC Driving Days, the SAC attends as many steam rallies as possible
When there we often run ‘SAC Playpens’ where apprentices can spend time running and driving Lady Sylvia and other miniatures without the fear of members of the public crossing in front of them.
The SAC also works with engine owners and crew who are at the rally to try to get them to provide apprentices with opportunities to spend time on their engines. Engine crews who welcome apprentices on board often also have an SAC Supporter magnetic sign stuck to their engine.
You can see the events we are hoping to support this year here. We’d love to support more events but have limited volunteers, despite this we try to cover different parts of the country but if you are interested in having us attend your event, please get in touch!

Driving Days 2024
Again, especially for you, we have arranged with several places throughout the country for the opportunity to drive or steer a traction engine or steam roller in the safety of private ground without the public being present. Those of you who have been on previous days will know how much fun it is.
If you wish to participate fill in this form and send it to our Driving Days Coordinator, Nick Bosworth (address on the form) so that we can make the necessary arrangements. Please include your email address and phone number for us to contact you. If you do not have an email address, please include a SAE.

Mr Parrott has a collection of several engines with others also on site. Again they are running over two days. Camping/Caravanning space is available.

Please note – Stithians are holding two separate driving days, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. If you intend to apply for both days and are paying by cheque, please pay for each day separately as we cannot guarantee a space on both days, and we cannot cash half a cheque.

The Herts Club driving day (formerly St.Albans) is back again, with a new location just south of Stotfold.

New for 2024, we have two new events from the MSRVS.
These are slightly different to the regular driving days, in that you are invited along to join in with their private steaming weekends. It is free to attend, and it is hoped you can camp over and stay for the whole weekend. (You can also attend individual days if you wish).
25/26/27th May - MSRVS - Blue Lias, Southam

We have been invited to join the MSRVS at their private steaming weekend at Blue Lias. It is free to attend, and you are invited to stay for the whole weekend, where you will be paired up with miniature engines. Camping space is available. You may also attend individual days only if you wish.

22/23rd June - MSRVS - Tewkesbury

New Online Payment System
We’ve changed the way you can pay for the driving days. You can still send a cheque with your application form, but you can now also pay for driving days using our driving days ‘online shop’.
Follow this link to the NTET’s online shop, and add the driving days you wish to attend to your basket, then complete checkout.
This system can accept PayPal and card payments.
If you use this system please remember to include your membership number in the ‘notes’ section at checkout, so we can match the payment to your application form.

NTET Driving Course
The Engine Owners Section presents its annual Steam Training and Driving Course on the 11th & 12th May 2024.
The course is held at Sandhills Farm, Astwood Bank, Redditch. It is a practical and informal course including instruction on boiler management, mechanical operation, care and maintenance and on driving techniques.
(over 13s only!).
