The Steam Boat Trust is inviting young apprentices aged 14 and over – along with parents – to get involved in the restoration of two historic steam tugs, one based in London and the other in Swansea.
This exciting project offers a unique opportunity to apply and expand the engineering and mechanical skills developed through work on road steam engines. The practical knowledge of steam power, metalwork and traditional restoration techniques learned within the Steam Apprentice Club provides an excellent foundation for working on marine steam systems.
By taking part, apprentices will not only help preserve two important pieces of maritime heritage but also broaden their understanding of how steam technology connects across different fields. It’s another way in which the SAC helps young people build wider capability and confidence through hands-on experience.
