Steam Apprentices Enjoy Successful Day at High Weald Steam Working Weekend

Members of the Steam Apprentice Club (SAC) enjoyed a memorable day at the recent High Weald Steam Working Weekend, where young enthusiasts were given the opportunity to experience traditional steam engineering in action and learn more about the operation of historic machinery.

Held in the heart of Sussex, the event brought together steam enthusiasts of all ages and provided an excellent opportunity for apprentices to gain hands-on experience and share their passion for steam preservation with like-minded individuals.

A particular highlight of the day was the opportunity for apprentices to spend time around a 6-inch Foden steam wagon, learning about its operation and engineering heritage. The generosity and enthusiasm of those involved helped create a welcoming and educational environment for everyone attending.

Parents were keen to express their thanks to Paul, Harry, Melanie and Graham from the Steam Apprentice Club for making the young apprentices feel so welcome throughout the event and helping to ensure they gained the most from the experience.

Events such as the High Weald Steam Working Weekend play an important role in encouraging the next generation of steam enthusiasts, providing valuable opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and confidence while celebrating Britain’s rich engineering heritage.

The event was a great success and enjoyed by everyone involved. The Steam Apprentice Club looks forward to supporting future events and continuing to inspire young people to become involved in the preservation and operation of historic steam machinery.
